Hi, my name is Kerri Laporte I am 47 years old and I am a 1 year, Stage 3 Breast Cancer survivor. Being diagnosed with Breast Cancer at the age of 45 changed my life in many ways and I found it hard at first to accept all the changes my body would soon go thru.
Silly as it sounds, my long hair was always my thing, my staple if you will and it meant a lot to me. I decided I would not let Cancer take my hair, so I opted to, with the assistance & support from my husband, and friends to shave my head.
Its been a long journey and I still have surgeries to go but I have learned to accept how my body has changed. My hair has grown back slowly. I have many scars which is a constant reminder that I had Cancer but the biggest thing is that I’m still here to share my story. Im proof that their is life after Cancer and you can learn to embrace the new you!
I’m honored to be part of the “ Find Your Beautiful” campaign. Life is beautiful and precious. I ask that you all look inside yourself and find your beautiful.
